Moore Assesses Damage After Monday's Tornado
Thunderstorms Bring Tornadoes to Central Oklahoma
During the late afternoon hours of April 19, 2023, thunderstorms formed along a dryline in southwestern and central Oklahoma and quickly developed into tornadic storms. One large tornado moved through western parts of central Oklahoma, causing significant damage to the town of Moore.
Meteorologists Track Tornado's Path
Meteorologist and stormchaser Simon Brewer and Juston Drake were out in central Oklahoma near the city of Moore and streamed live footage of the tornado as it moved through the area. The tornado caused widespread damage to homes, businesses, and infrastructure, and left behind a trail of debris.
Recovery Efforts Underway
In the wake of the tornado, residents of Moore are assessing the damage and beginning cleanup efforts. Emergency responders are on the scene to assist with search and rescue operations, and utility crews are working to restore power and other essential services.
