Recap of the Leafs' Victory in Montreal

The Toronto Maple Leafs continued their impressive start to the season on Saturday night, defeating the Montreal Canadiens 4-1 at the Bell Centre. The victory was the Leafs' fifth straight and eighth in their last nine games.

Toronto got off to a fast start, scoring twice in the first period. John Tavares opened the scoring with a power-play goal just over six minutes into the game. William Nylander made it 2-0 with a goal of his own less than four minutes later.

The Canadiens got on the board in the second period with a goal from Nick Suzuki, but the Leafs restored their two-goal lead with a goal from David Kampf late in the period. Auston Matthews added an empty-net goal in the final minute of the game to seal the victory.

Jack Campbell made 32 saves in goal for the Leafs, while Jake Allen made 29 saves for the Canadiens. The Leafs outshot the Canadiens 33-30.

The Leafs will look to continue their winning ways when they host the Washington Capitals on Monday night. The Canadiens will be back in action on Tuesday night when they host the Buffalo Sabres.
